Faith is the anchor of the unseen, the profound reliance on what cannot be touched but is deeply felt. It requires a surrender that transcends human understanding, a trust that holds firm even when logic falters. To have faith is to step into the unknown, holding fast to the promise of the Lord Jesus Christ and his Word, even when doubt whispers loudly. It is the courage to cling to hope, not because the path is clear, but because His path illuminates the way. Faith challenges fear, urging you to believe not in what you see, but in the power of His truth and the assurance of His presence. My word for 2025 is Faith.
"Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." Perhaps, the most neglected verses in the bible. People like to read this, but they don't live it unless they have no other choice.
Better than a plan is a trajectory; plans do not take into account all of those things that have not yet happened. "I have learned a depth of surrender I never before understood." This is a beautiful trajectory; I encourage you to follow it to its bottom. In my experience, this has been the pathway to the deepest participation in love.
Ryan thanks so much for this response. It is my prayer as well that I may follow it to the bottom. Have you ever read the book: Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard? It is a breathtaking allegory of our spiritual journey towards the High Places led by our Shepherd.
In the narrative, the main character marvels at the water and the melody is sings as it goes down, down, down… down the waterfall, the river, etc. towards the deepest places of surrender. I pray I may do the same.
Thanks again for your encouragement and affirmation.
Faith.

Maggie this is just beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and 2025 word of the year - FAITH.
Love that your word is "Courage"! Reminds me of C. S. Lewis in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader where Aslan whispers to Lucy, "Courage, dear heart."
Oh my goodness Em - love this so much! Speaking directly to my heart, Aslan and C.S. Lewis. Thank you so much for the note.
