Welcome to The Wife of Job
Authentic stories of faith shared through the lives of imperfect people
Welcome to The Wife of Job! You are so very welcome here! No matter what your life has entailed, or if you find yourself encountering difficulty, doubt, and even desperation, this is the place for you. There is nothing but empathy and grace here.
We all know the saying: faith is a journey not a destination. While this is true, living out this reality one day at a time, is not always as simple as these pretty inspirational sayings. My own journey has been fraught with difficulty and disappointment.
After twenty years of one unexpected trial after another, my husband and I were undesirably labeled as a modern-day example of Job and his wife. Not just once or twice. We literally heard this declaration repeated consistently for over a decade. I’m not sure how familiar you are with the story of Job, but no one wants to be Job - EVER. He lost everything of meaning and value (including ALL of his children) then laid in an ash heap scraping off puss with shattered pottery while his wife towered over him and declared he should curse God and die. Yeah, not really the biblical characters you want to be associated with.
However, what took me nearly twenty years to comprehend was that Job and his wife did not experience the severity of their trials because they were failures or unworthy. They were given a gift, treasure beyond measure. They were granted the opportunity to SEE God in a way some never will. There is an understanding and depth of relationship with the Lord that can only be truly grasped on the other side of suffering. Beauty for ashes, resurrection after crucifixion, redemption for the faithless.
Our Heavenly Father understands our humanity and our failings. The Bible is FULL of followers who struggle to walk out a polished, perfect faith - yet God still used them, and used them mightily. Moses murdered a man before he became the redeemer of Israel. Peter denied Jesus not just once but three times publicly. Judah became the ancestral line of Christ though he instigated the plan to sell his younger brother Joseph into slavery. And the list goes on an on. Authentic stories of faith shared through the lives of imperfect people.
God has demonstrated his goodness and faithfulness over and over again. He longs to do the same for you. There is a real God who loves you, just as you are. In all the mess, all the hurt, all the shortcomings. He sees you. You are not alone.
Some come on in, grab a seat, your Bible, and a cup of coffee (or tea if you prefer) and let’s discover together how God can transform our tiny mustard seeds into deep roots planted by streams of living water, flowing with a fortitude of faith.
